Grain Festival

August 1

On this day Lugh or Jesus is at his strongest.  He has fully united himself with the Earth and her people -- his bride.  It is a time of feasting for the first fruits of the harvest and the wedding.  Activities of the day include climbing mountains, visiting holy wells, muscial and poetry contests, races and dancing.  Oak Cakes are baked and eaten in honor of Lugh or Jesus as Don or Sophia looks on.  This is the best time of the year for weddings.
